Washington State Motorcycle Insurance

Washington state motorcycle insurance should be purchased when you decide you want to own a motorcycle. The requirements change from state to state but you are required to have it. You need to get insurance that meets the minimum requirements for the state of Washington. Washington state motorcycle insurance is something you cannot be without.

The requirements in Washington are very similar to other states requirements, but the coverage amounts are different. You must have $25,000 for bodily injury for each person, and you must have $50,000 for all persons injured in any one accident. You must also carry property damage coverage in the event that property is damaged during an accident.  $10,000 in property damage must be carried.

There are options available for every insurance policy through most insurance companies.  You can decide whether you need these options or not. In Washington the insurance companies are required to offer underinsured motorist coverage. What this means to you is that if you decide to carry underinsured motorist coverage, and you have purchased a greater amount of bodily injury coverage then the state of Washington requires, then you have to carry an equal amount of underinsured motorist coverage.

You also have an option to purchase personal injury protection coverage. This covers a minimum of $10,000 for medical, and it also covers $2,000 for funeral expenses, and up to $10,000 for the continuation of income. The continuation of income is usually limited to $200 per week.

The laws change everywhere you go – on a regular basis - but the need for insurance stays the same. Washington state motorcycle insurance gives you the requirements that you need to get out on the road. Insurance is one of the most important decisions you will make about the motorcycle you have just purchased, and you need to make sure that you get the best coverage available.
