Rider Club Motorcycle Insurance

If you aren’t a member of a motorcycle club, you should strongly consider joining one. Rider club motorcycle insurance discounts help lower your insurance premiums considerably. However, not just any motorcycle club will do. Each insurance company recognizes specific clubs and only offers their rider club motorcycle insurance discounts to members in good standing of those clubs.

Typically, small bike clubs are not recognized. The larger national bike clubs are the ones that you should consider joining if you want the insurance discount. These typically include the American Motorcycle Association, BMW Motorcycle Owners of America, Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Gold Wing Touring Association, Harley Owners Group, Motorcycle Safety Foundation, Venture Touring Society, and Honda Riders Clubs of America.

Of course, you would want to join the national association that best suits you and your bike. For instance, if you ride a Harley, membership in the Gold Wing Touring Association probably isn’t for you. Alternately, if you ride a Honda, the Harley Owners Group would not be a club that you would join. However, some clubs, such as the American Motorcycle Association and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation are for everyone – even non-bike riders.

There are a great many benefits to joining these clubs, other than the savings you will see on your insurance bill. These clubs offer courses, conventions, rallies, and savings on other products and services as well. First, contact your insurance company to find out which association memberships will get you the discount, and then contact the associations to find out what else they can offer you as a member.

Who knows? You might find an association that you want to join even if that membership does not get you the rider club motorcycle insurance discount! Joining these associations is a great way to connect with people who have interests similar to yours. It is also a great way to help the motorcycle movement, as many of these associations lobby in Washington for biker’s rights. But if you simply want a discount, you should note that the cost of membership in some of these clubs exceeds the amount that you will save on your insurance with the discount.
