Canadian Motorcycle InsuranceCanadian motorcycle insurance can be quite expensive if you aren’t careful. It can also be inadequate to cover your needs in the event of an accident. Canadian motorcycle insurance is required by law, and the minimum requirements vary from one providence to another. However, in most cases, those minimum requirements do not provide for enough protection for you or any other injured party in an accident where you are at fault. Furthermore, you have certain rights when it comes to dealing with insurance companies. Sometimes, knowing those rights can be the difference between getting your claims paid, and getting your claims denied. It is important to know what your rights are, and to make sure that the insurance companies that you deal with do not trample all over those rights. In Canada, you have the right to shop around for the insurance you need. You have the right to be treated fairly by the insurance companies, and you have the right to fast and fair insurance claim resolutions. As a consumer, the insurance companies are responsible for making sure that these rights are protected. The insurance companies are obligated to notify you when something in your policy needs to be changed, or when new laws are put into effect that have an impact on your coverage. You have the right to know how the insurance broker you are dealing with is getting paid. The broker must release this information if you request it, and the information should not only tell you how they are getting paid, but who they are being paid by. They are also required to release information concerning the ownership or financing of their insurance brokers agency. You may need this information if you ever have occasion to feel that the agent is not treating you fairly, or if you feel like they are trying to take you for a ride! You have the right to file a complaint against the insurance broker concerning any part of any service you receive from them. The insurance agent is required by law to give you the information you need to file a complaint upon your request for that information. When you file a complaint, you need to handle things with respect and dignity – you catch more flies with honey. Canadian motorcycle insurance companies are regulated, and they have guidelines that they must follow. However, if they are not following those guidelines, it is your responsibility as a consumer, and as a Canadian to file a complaint with the proper officials. |
