British Columbia Canada Motorcycle Insurance - A Guide for VisitorsBritish Columbia Canada Motorcycle Insurance is required for all visitors who plan to drive in BC. Canada offers tourists spectacular views and scenery that cannot be found anywhere else in the world and this is a great place to tour by motorcycle. British Columbia Canada Motorcycle Insurance companies offer quite a bit of advice for foreign drivers. British Columbia has a superior highway system. Distances and speed limits are clearly posted on highways, using the metric system. Driver’s licenses from the United States are valid in British Columbia; however visitors are required to obtain a non-resident interprovincial motor vehicle liability insurance policy from their insurance provider in their home country before traveling to Canada. All vehicles are required to turn on their headlights when the vehicle is moving – day and night. Failure to do so will result in fines, and possibly in the necessity to appear in court. As a visitor, this requirement to appear in court could present a big problem – so obey the law, and turn your headlight on! Of course you want to have a good time on your visit, but it is against the law to operate any motor vehicle, or to be in the care or control of a vehicle – even if the vehicle is not in motion – if your blood alcohol content is more than 0.08 milligrams. Please note that holding the keys to a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of this level is against the law! Driving in Canada is just like driving in the United States – you drive on the right hand side of the road. You are required to wear a helmet while riding your motorcycle, but if you practice the Sikh religion, an exception is made, as this religion requires unshorn hair and a turban to be worn. Overall, your driving experience in Canada should be quite pleasurable, but if you are in an accident, contact the local police or RCMP, and then contact your British Columbia Canada motorcycle insurance company at the first available opportunity. You are required to carry proof of your insurance coverage while driving in Canada. If you are from the United States, the card that proves your coverage should be yellow, and it should have all of the necessary contact information on it for reporting the accident to the insurance company. |
