When many people start their search for motorcycle insurance, they may think that they can’t find affordable motorcycle insurance. However, the rates that you are quoted at first are not the rates that you will actually have to pay. You can find affordable motorcycle insurance if you know how to look for it, and what to ask for.
Start by doing a search online. Find a site that compares the rates of several different companies. Visit the websites of the companies that offer the lowest rates, and see what kind of coverage they offer. Make sure that it is the coverage that you want and need.
While at the websites, check to see what discounts are offered. If the company does not offer discounts for completion of a motorcycle safety course, and for membership in a motorcycle association, keep looking. You want those discounts! Of course, this means that you will need to take the safety course, and you will need to join an approved motorcycle association – but the savings you will receive on your insurance premiums are well worth it!

Insurance companies can always offer a lower rate – even though they would have you believe that they cannot. Call the one with the lowest rate first, and ask them if that is the absolute best that they can do. Do not act interested or satisfied with the rate at all!
Next, contact the insurance company with the highest rate, tell them about the lowest rate that you have found, and ask them if they can come up with a rate that compares to that low rate. If they can offer you a lower rate, call the company with the lowest rate back, and tell them about the new lowest rate that their competition has offered you.
It is a competition, and the insurance companies want your business. Use this to your advantage! It’s what free enterprise is all about.
